06.06-10.06 Last week

The main work was concentrated in the warehouse this week.We learned the way of packaging, loading and unloading, conditions for packaging and equipment, they use.

Also we were receiving orders from customers to deliver their products.
We worked with logistic computer program and transport documentation.


We communicated with customers by phone and email.

On Friday we said good bye to our company, we visited our language school last time.

It was very hard to leave.We liked this country, these people, these sights. It will be grate to come here again, if we have opportunity.

30.05-03.06

It was a busy week. We learned a lot and had a good practice.
We were communicating with:

•  company current and patential distributors and partners from Russia, Estonia and England by phone and by emails, discussing different details of contructs, meetings and orders;
•  freight forwarding companies by emails to start co-operating work with our company, sending them quote requests for different deliveries of goods do different countries;

Also we were counting the weight, volume, size, destination and prices of packages and its delivery, and we made a comparison between freight forwarding companies to decide, which of them is the most suitable for company.


We learned new terms of INCOTERMS 2010. It is very important. If you know, it can save your money and time.


And every day we were working with documentation. Orders, invoices, proformas, certificates of origin, packing instructions, explanations, declarations and others.

29.05.2011 Sunday

We started this day with Julia visiting The Leeds Castle in Maidstone.

 A large residence for queens and kings was amazing with its beauty and luxury of living.

 I was very impressed. I didn't expect to see white and black swans, white and colorful peacocks just walking freely around the castles' garden.

 It is a perfect place for spending your weekend, people just walking there with their children, have a picnic on the grass, playing football, tennis and badminton.

You can also have fun, climbing on training ground for knights

 or getting lost in the  garden maze

and getting to the water cave =))

Oh Yes!!! I managed to sleep finally this morning. I had a late breakfast and was waiting Julia to come to us. When she arrived, we went to Maidstone centre for shopping. It is a very beautifull town in the centre of countryside, which is called here like "The Green Garden of England".We visited Primark, Next, H&M, Mark&Spensor,Tesco and other big famous shops in England and had a lot fun.
In the evening we were walking in the garden near our house,with beautiful pond with different ducks,I have never seen before.It was relaxing nice day.

27.05.2011 Friday

It was a very good day.Everyone could wear his favourite clothes, jeans, T-shirts, because on friday in this company is dress code off. All were talking about their plans for the weekends. But nobody forgot to work hard. It was also busy day for me. I had a task to translate the contract with russian partners, to explain some details in russian language and also worked with different documents about packing conditions of goods, delivery of hazardous goods, especially UN1956 Class 2.2.
I spent very nice evening, communicating with members of host family, with whom I live.
The first week ended, and it was quite useful and interesting for me=))

26.05.2011 Thursday

Today we were negotiating with the company partners from Moscow. We discussed the detailes of the contract to deliver products such as NOXBOX O2 and NOXBOX Plus and their accessories. Then we made a research about potential distributors in Estonia, found different companies. Further, export sales manager is going to contact these companies and make an offer for cooperation.

Wednesday 25.05.2011

More two days in the company were very successful.We were talking to company partners from other countries by phone, accepted the orders for supplying products, checked the invoices and sent quotes.
We had a review of operations, connected with packing the goods and relationship with suppliers, distributors, couriers and freight forwarders.
We were showed the documentation, certificates of origin of different countries.
We have a good relationship with colleagues and try to do our best, while doing the work tasks,we are given.

Tuesday 24.05.2011

Today I was given a task to talk with company partners from Estonia.
They are going to visit Bedfont in England on 27th of June.
So, I had to discuss with them the time of their arriving,arrange accomodation in the hotel.
Also we were talking about their meeting, what they need to prepare, documents and many different things.
Estonian partners are planning to have  products training. If they decide, that these products are exactly, what they need, so they start to distribute Bedfont Scientific products in Estonia.
It will be great, because company manufacture very useful and important products, which help people to quit smoking and diagnose deseases earlier.

After lunch we worked again with documents, to dispatch them to distributors.

It was busy day.

Monday 23.05.2011

At 09.00 in the morning we were in the company.We got our codes to follow when came to the office and gone out.

This is not so big building, as I have thought before, but it is large for its' amount of partners and distributors in the world.

The company works with 80 countries and makes a large profit and success.

It is a good developing company, which has a lot of awards.

Bedfont Scientific have won ‘Business of the Year’ in the Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce Awards 2011, sponsored by the University of Kent. There were many applicants for each of the 5 award categories and yet again Bedfont has shone through and scooped the top prize.

So, we started with the introduction of the company. Hubert, working in sales department, was very kind to show all departments of the company. They have such as: IT, Operations, Human Resources, Sales, Export, Marketing and others.

At that moment company is in a process of negotiating with companies in the market of Russia and Baltic countries.So, they would like us to help them with documentation and communication with their partners.

Also, we will investigate the transport process organization, from testing their products to their final destination to consignee.

Today we learned information about the products, they are producing.We had a look at them.It is very important to know about the cargo,you are going to deliver, because some of their goods are hazardous.

The Bedfont Scientific Ltd. company manufacture the exhaled breath and gas monitoring instruments for industrial, scientific and medical markets through out the world.

Their main customers are distributors from differnt countries and hospitals.

After lunch, we worked with documentation,prepared,printed and sorted for deifferent adresses to dispatch.

That was like our first day=))

On this day there weren't any special events.We had a last walk around the Canterbury.

At 17.30 the transport manager of Concorde Int. School picked me and Julia up and we went to Maidstone by car. It took us an hour to get there. My home stay placement is situated not in the centre of Maidstone ,but near it.This is a small beautiful village with wonderful nature, wild forest  animals,but here is all life conditions. It is 30 minutes far from the company, where I am going to pass my practice.

The home stay family is large, but very friendly.All members of this family work in the company.This week I live with senior manager of the company and his wife,who is a sales manager.So, I have a very good opportunity to go for my work placement together with them and come back=)But the most important is that, if have any questions or problems with my practice, I can ask about during all day until going to bed=))

Early in the morning we went to the Canterbury West Train Station.At 10.00 we were in London.

First of all we visited London Bridge.

Then,searching the London Eye we came to Big Ben=))

Walking in the park near the river,we noticed London Eye on the other of it.
London Eye was very impressive,we were so high, looking down all the sights of London.It's amazing.

Near London Eye is London Aquarium,so we decided to visit it too, and it was worth visiting.

Searching the Oxford Street for shopping we came to Trafalgar Squaire.
All sights are situated closely to each other.

After shopping we were all very tired,and it time to go home.
We went to the London Bridge station by tube and than to the train to Canterbury.

The train to Canterbury West shoud come at 20.49, but we came to the station at 20.54. Fortunatelly, the train was late for 10 minutes and came at 21.00.We were lucky=))

Friday 20.05.2011

On this day,after classes we got our certificates,that we passed a general course of different levels of English.My level is Upper Intermediate/Advanced.Then we said goodbye to all students and teachers.It was very sad.This school we liked very much.

We had a lunch and went shopping,walking and looking the sights.
We had a river tour around the Canterbury city.It was really wonderful,beautiful and exciting.

So,actually,it was our last day in Canterbury together...Bye Canterbury,we will be missing this town.=)

Our First Week in Ingland!!!

So, it was my first trip so far.In the morning 15th May we met each other at the Narva bus station.All of us were nervous, but with a good mood.We checked all our luggage,documents,all what we needed and at 10.00 we started our long trip to UK.

I was really excited by the flight by plane, because I have never flyed before.The flight was fine, we had a good service and it was very a beautiful picture, we were looking in the window.
So, we successfully arrived to the Gatwic Airport and then to the London Bridge Station by train.

We had some problems with the train stations and it's timetable.By the end of the trip we all were very tired and were ready to sleep in the train until we get to our host families.

We all were very happy to arrive to Canterbury.It has been already dark and cold. The transport manager from Concorde Int. met us on the station.We sat into the cars and went to our families. We worried about, how it will be, the first meeting with family, what conditions will be there, but there weren't any problem with our accomodation.Our family is so friendly and kind, they always smile and try to do all for us to feel comfortable.

On that week I live with Kate together in our host family.We live together with girl Karla from Italy.Very nice girl, we spend a good time together.The family has a big dog Zuck.It is PitBull, but lovely and really kind dog , which comes to our room every morning =)))

From the first day we made a very good relationship with family members.They were kind to offer us to get to the school by car.

First day in Concorde we started with tests for our level of English.I did my best and had a good result.We devided into the smaller groups, according to our levels. I and Darja started studying together in one group.Our tichers' name is Rebecca.Girls, studying with us ,are from Thailand.They are so nice and friendly, they are always ready to work in team and very interested in study.

After lunch, which is 1,45 hour (where you can see such a long lunch? We are lucky!=), we have classes of Business with Denice. There we learn business ethiket, job skills, our companies and many other interesting things, which help us in future to find a good job and introduce all our capabilities.

On Tuesday, on classes of English, we learned the history of England, about the Normans,came to UK, what traditions they brought to this country and what they changed.

On the second class of English we came to Roman Museum.That's was amazing.Rebecca gave us a list of questions to answer during the excursion.It was really interesting.There are a lot of historical facts and old roman town, which was found there and the museum, built over him.We saw also roman baths in the other building.I couldn't imagine, that will see that things,which I have seen before only on TV.

On Wednesday we walked a lot in town.Took a  lot of pictures,went shopping.

Thursday was a bit sad day.Students from Thailand of our group and a lot of other Japanese, Korean, Chinese are going home.It was their last day in school.We took photoes with them, gave to each other Skype, Facebook,E-mail contacts and different little presents.It were only 4 days,we studied with them, but they were really great.


On that day we had also last lesson with Denice.She gave us a good advice, what to do on our first day in the company.Her lessons were so interesting and useful,which helped us to talk more confident in English.

During the lunch today we visited Canterbury Cathedral.It is very beautiful.

 We used to this town and this school,to these students.It will be difficult to leave to another city.But we need to get a good work experience.

On Friday,tomorrow we have last two classes of English until 12.30.Than we are going to spend free time together in Canterbury.

On Saturday morning we are going to London.Yes,it will be great!!!=))

On Sunday we are leaving Canterbury and go to other city,where our companies are situated.I and Julja are going to Maidstone.We will live with family,which work in our company.I think, it's good.=)))
